Know Your Car Shipping Options

 Type of Shipping 

Basically, there are two main options divided according to how cargo is loaded and discharged for international car shipping.

 What's RoRo? 

RoRo is short for "Roll-on/Roll-off". RoRo ships are vessels designed to carry wheeled cargo such as cars, trucks, or buses that are driven on and off the ship on their own wheels.


 
 Pros and Cons (RoRo) 

Generally, RoRo is the least expensive and most commonly used shipping method when compared with other shipping methods, but it's schedule is relatively flexible and prone to change.


  
 What's Container? 

Container ships are cargo that carry all of their load in truck-size intermodal containers. In this case, your car will either be loaded into a sole use 20ft container or consolidated into a 40ft or 4HQ with other vehicles bound for the same final destination port. 



 Pros and Cons (Container) 

If you select the consolidated container option, the shipping cost will be cheaper because you are sharing the cost of the ocean freight, customs clearance, and port charges with other individuals.


But that also means it can take longer for your car to be ready to sail because other vehicles are needed to fill the container unless you book your own 20ft container that cost much expensive.

       



 Which is Better? 

In fact, it's hard to decide which option is the best by yourself if this is your first time to import a car online since there are a variety of factors affect their final shipping cost and availability. (e.g. Number of Vehicles that you order, Final Destination Port, or Shipping Schedule etc.)
